don't you love their dirty feet? not exactly trying to distance herself from a certain other famous cape verdean singer...
mayra has everything i love in a woman's voice - floatiness, gravel, grit, weariness, warmth, malaise, and huge, soft, sloping curves.
this clip and the other i put up, the acoustic one, are my favourites. in every other song i can find her voice is swallowed and smothered by too much overcooked world music cheese. i like her like this. just her. no shoes. plane sounds overhead.
